Prepare to ride the revival wave

If God is moving in the UK, how can we get ready for revival? With changed hearts and three prayers, said ELS speaker and pastor Al Gordon.

Looking at the sea in front of him, all Al Gordon could see was a calm horizon. But the world champion surfer bobbing beside him had spotted something different.

“Get ready to get on that wave,” he said.

“But I can’t see a wave,” Al protested.

“Trust me, start paddling now,” his instructor insisted.

Suddenly, a wave appeared and Al was up on his board, ready to surf it.

“I lasted about three seconds before I nose-dived,” he laughs, “but for a brief moment I learned an invaluable lesson: you can’t wait until the wave is on before you start paddling.”

It’s vital advice for churches in the UK today, he told Elim leaders at ELS.

“Everywhere we look right now we’re seeing signs of the first ripples of waves that are going to break on this country,” he said.

“There’s a wave of God’s presence, mercy and love that is sweeping this generation and we’re just beginning to see the first signs of it.”

Bible sales are up, as is church attendance, Alpha sign-ups and baptisms, said Al. He’s seeing it in his own church, he added.

At SAINT in Hackney, baptisms had rocketed from around five per year to 150 between January and May alone.

God is definitely moving, Al said, but this poses a big question – how do we get ready?
