God-glorifying Scottie adds third major
Scottie Scheffler, the world’s top-ranked golfer, clinched his third major title at the 2025 PGA Championship, delivering a five-shot victory at Quail Hollow. But for the 28-year-old Texan, it’s not just about trophies – it’s about faith, family, and following Jesus.
Scheffler’s final round of even-par 71 sealed the deal, adding the Wanamaker Trophy to his two Masters wins in 2022 and 2024. Yet, amid the roaring crowds and flashing cameras, Scheffler remained grounded. “I feel like I’ve been given a gift to play golf,” he said. “But at the end of the day, the golf tournament is over. You take your hat off, shake hands, and you move on.”
His victory was made even more special as it was his first major win as a father. Celebrating with his wife, Meredith, and their one-year-old son, Bennett, Scheffler shared an emotional moment on the 18th green. “I’ve got a great family, a great wife, and a wonderful son,” he beamed. “Off the golf course, my life is wonderful. We live what I would feel like is a pretty simple life at home.”
Throughout his career, Scheffler has been open about his Christian faith. He describes himself as a “Christ Follower” on Instagram and often speaks about how his faith guides his life and career. “The reason why I play golf is I’m trying to glorify God and all that he’s done in my life,” he shared after his Masters win in 2022.
