UFC winner One Shot urges 'surrender'
Brazilian UFC star Mauricio Ruffy turned his biggest fight night into a bold gospel moment after stopping Michael Chandler in the first round at UFC Freedom 250 on the White House South Lawn in Washington in June.
The lightweight, nicknamed “One Shot”, won by knockout at 4:29 of round one, then used the spotlight to point beyond himself.
“Jesus completely changed my story, and he has his arms open to transform yours too,” Ruffy wrote afterwards, according to The Christian Post.
He added: “Our greatest victory is not achieved by our own strength, but when we let him take control of everything.”
Ruffy, who also proposed to his girlfriend after the bout from the cage, said the win was “very special”.
But his real message was simple: “Surrender your life to Jesus.”
