Doku points to the power of the cross
While most Premier League stars celebrate with flair and fireworks, Manchester City’s Jérémy Doku is pointing skywards with a stark reminder about eternity.
In a recent social media post the 23-year-old winger declared: “When Jesus returns, there will be no second chance… My goal is that when he returns, he will say to me: ‘Well done, good and faithful servant.’” Doku’s testimony isn’t empty words.
Having publicly been baptised in September 2025 – choosing adult baptism after a derby win over Manchester United – he called faith “the centre of my life”. And he shared that his relationship with Jesus gives him purpose both off and on the pitch.
In a world chasing trophies and titles, Doku echoes the Bible’s call to live for more than earthly applause: “So we fix our eyes not on what is seen, but on what is unseen, since what is seen is temporary, but what is unseen is eternal,” (2 Corinthians 4:18 NIV).
Doku hopes his platform might lead others to the same eternal goal.
