Striker kicks off role as pastor
Former Liverpool and Brazil striker Roberto Firmino has swapped the penalty box for the pulpit by becoming a pastor.
The Kop hero, who scored 82 goals while at Anfield, along with 17 for his country, is the new pastor at the church he founded in Maceio on the east coast of Brazil.
Pictures of his consecration were shared with his 15.6 million Instagram followers.
He posted: “This church was BORN in the heart of God and we are extremely grateful for the privilege of witnessing up close all that the Lord has done.
“It’s all about [H]is power since in us there is no merit. It has never been our goal to open a church or hold a ministry office, God knows that very well.
“Now we have another craving and responsibility ... Be pastors after God’s heart and who cooperate with the Kingdom. Thank you Jesus.”
