No quarter given over Kirk's faith

No quarter given over Kirk's faith

He may be one of American football’s biggest names, but the new Las Vegas Raiders’ quarterback Kirk Cousins insists his greatest identity is found in Christ.

The 37-year-old NFL veteran, born in Illinois, has spoken openly for years about his evangelical Christian faith, regularly challenging fans to move beyond “casual Christianity”.

In a clip recently reshared online, Cousins declared: “There’s a difference between being a fan of Jesus and being a follower of Jesus.”

He added that believers must choose Christ even when culture pulls the other way.

Cousins, who starred at Michigan State before entering the NFL in 2012, has built a reputation not only as a four-time Pro Bowl quarterback but also as a bold public witness for his faith.

He has previously said: “My faith is a big part of who I am … I’m a follower of Jesus Christ before I’m a football player.”
