Major success for Masters Christians

Russell Henley roared up the leaderboard at the Augusta National in Georgia, finishing tied third at the 2026 Masters.

The result marked his 37th birthday with the best major result of his career.

The American, born in Macon, Georgia, carded a final-round 68 to finish on ten under par, just two shots behind winner Rory McIlroy.

He was just one behind runner-up and fellow Christian Scottie Scheffler.

But for Henley, the bigger prize is not a green jacket – it is the calm he says comes through Christ.

The committed Christian recently said: “I don’t think you’re going to find peace with anything in this world... you’re going to find it through knowing Jesus.”

That testimony cuts through the roar of the galleries and the pressure of Amen Corner.

In a sport where one missed putt can wreck a dream, Henley is pointing to something steadier than form, fame or fortune.

Jesus said in John 14:27: “Peace I leave with you; my peace I give you. I do not give to you as the world gives. Do not let your hearts be troubled and do not be afraid.”

For Henley, peace is not found on the leaderboard – it is found in the Lord. And it’s a peace he shares with his wife, Teil.

In an interview, his artist wife said: “He’s had me laughing from day one, so we’ve never struggled to have fun in mundane situations.

“And, most importantly, we share the same faith, which brings purpose, fulfilment, and joy to our relationship.”
