Isaac's forward about faith
BASKETBALL star Jonathan Isaac is using his fame to spread Christian teaching online.
The Orlando Magic forward, 26, is well known for refusing to join players in taking the knee before games, and insists the controversial decision stems from his deep faith and the belief freedom can only be found in Jesus.
At the time, when criticised by the Black Lives Matter movement, Isaac was firm in his response, stating: “I can see racism is not the only thing that plagues the hearts of men. But I know, based on what I’ve experienced, the gospel is what changes the hearts of men.
“Justice is important and people should have to face the consequences of their actions, but if I’m in a situation where my sin is caught on tape and everybody has seen it, I would want mercy. So I’m going to give mercy in that situation.”
Now the 6ft 10in NBA star has again spoken passionately about his beliefs by posting a video on Instagram teaching about gaining peace from God.
Here’s a transcript of his video:
“What’s up, pretty people. I’m making this video to encourage you to seek God’s peace.
God’s peace is a very special kind of peace in the sense that, in Philippians 47, it is described as a peace that surpasses all understanding.
And I’ve been thinking to myself, I feel like I have a little bit of a grasp on what that means.
A peace that passes all understanding is simply a peace that doesn’t make any sense.
