Golfer Scottie Scheffler won his second Masters in three years – and immediately dedicated the victory to God.
The 27-year-old US star claimed another green jacket at the Augusta National Golf Club, winning by an impressive four strokes by finishing on 11 under par for the four rounds.
The New Jersey world number one became only the tenth golfer to become Masters champ twice in three years
The latest victory was never in doubt, he told the world’s press, as it was pre-ordained.
“I believe today’s plans were already laid out many years ago, and I could do nothing to mess up those plans,” said Scheffler.
“I have been given a gift of this talent, and I use it for God’s glory.
“When I’m out there, I try to compete to the best of my abilities. I feel like that’s how I was designed.”
He added: “My buddies told me this morning, my victory was secure on the cross. And that’s a pretty special feeling, to know I’m secure forever and it doesn’t matter if I win this tournament or lose. My identity is secure forever.”
