Free-scoring Igor assisted by Jesus

At just 24 years old, Brazilian striker Igor Thiago is storming the Premier League’s scoring charts.

And he’s doing it with an open testimony of Christian faith that’s turning heads across the UK.

Thiago, born 26 June 2001 in Gama, Federal District, Brazil, has been a revelation for Brentford FC this season – netting 16 goals in 21 matches to become the Premier League’s top Brazilian scorer with nearly half the campaign still to play.

It’s a record few expected when he landed at the Gtech Community Stadium from Club Brugge in February 2024, but he’s been just as emphatic off the pitch as he is on it.

After a 3‑0 win over Sunderland in January, the striker didn’t just celebrate with the usual social media banter.

He wrote on Brentford’s Instagram: “This is what Jesus does.”
