City pair's cup runneth over

Faith, football and silverware came together in spectacular fashion as Manchester City stars Jérémy Doku and Antoine Semenyo openly gave glory to God during City’s triumphant FA Cup run.

Pep Guardiola’s side lifted the FA Cup at Wembley on 16 May after defeating Chelsea to secure the club’s eighth FA Cup crown and cap another remarkable season.

For many Christian fans, though, the biggest talking point was not just the football – but the faith of two of City’s standout stars.

Videos shared widely on social media showed Doku and Semenyo praying together before matches and publicly acknowledging Jesus Christ after key moments on the pitch.

Ghana international Semenyo, 26, completed a high-profi le move to Manchester City from Bournemouth in January and quickly became a fan favourite.

He scored the decisive goal in the FA Cup final and was later named Player of the Match.

Reflecting on the victory, Semenyo said: “I’m grateful.” EXCITING Born in Chelsea, London, to Ghanaian heritage, Semenyo’s rise has been remarkable.

After spells with Bristol City, Bath City, Newport County and Sunderland, he has become one of the Premier League’s most exciting attacking players.

Alongside his football success, Semenyo has increasingly spoken publicly about his relationship with Jesus.

Earlier this year he shared footage of his baptism online and thanked God for his “protection, blessings and work” over his life.

His Instagram biography simply declares that he is “powered by Jesus”.

Meanwhile Belgian winger Doku, 23, has continued dazzling supporters with his pace and skill.
