All eyes on Christ shinpads

Premier League striker Taiwo Awoniyi took his domestic form onto the international stage with a goal – then marked it with a unique, Christ-centred celebration.
He is pictured above, inset, on a photo of being carried from the pitch after an injury he credits God with helping him recover from.
The Nottingham Forest frontman has been inspirational at the City Ground since signing there in June 2022, leading the line with his formidable presence and contributing 14 top-flight goals and numerous assists.
Awoniyi scored for Nigeria against Sao Tome and Principe, immediately removing his shinpads to reveal ‘Cross’ shinpads given to him by the Ballers in God podcast.
The podcast posted on Awoniyi’s Instagram post: “Not only was @awoniyi18 nominated for the Premier League Player of the month the Nigerian Baller in God capped off international duty with a beautiful goal and celebration to match!”
The Nigerian frontman broke Nottingham Forest legend Stan Collymore’s six-game scoring sequence for the club this season.
