Spiritual wave sweeping through school

A spiritual wave is sweeping through Belfast High School – and it’s showing no signs of slowing down, reports Evangelicals Now.

Once a modest gathering of just 20 students, the school’s Christian Union (CU) has exploded in size over the past year – growing from 60 to more than 160 members, now packing out the school’s assembly hall every week.

“This year what we’ve seen is God just pour his spirit down on BHCU,” declared 18-year-old Jonny, a Year 14 pupil. “We’ve seen people saved, and lives transformed. He’s brought people from different upbringings and backgrounds to gather.”

Student Lydia, also in Year 14, added: “We’ve seen people walk through the doors who, a couple of months ago, would have promised they will never come to CU. So we’ve really seen the power of Jesus.”

In a video shared by youth mission group The Send, pupils shared jaw-dropping stories of faith, including one student who met regularly with a friend for prayer until they committed their life to Jesus during the CU weekend away in February.

Another student shared how his previously sceptical mate did a complete U-turn. “One day, in fifth year, I got a text from him saying that he ‘really wanted to go back to CU’,” he said. “And now he’s standing here today as an upper sixth student who is passionate for Jesus!”
