Mum's 'Lazarus moment' miracle

A young mum who “knew of Jesus” but didn’t know him personally is now hailing a miracle after a terrifying brush with death that left doctors baffled and believers rejoicing.

Minayah, a mum to toddler Leslie, had rebuilt her life through Metro Hope – a Minneapolis-based Christian residential recovery ministry supporting men, women and children overcoming addiction, trauma and homelessness.

She graduated from the programme in October 2025, found faith afresh and even joined staff, helping care for children while studying at college.

But in February, everything changed. While working in the centre, Minayah collapsed without warning – not breathing and with no heartbeat.

Staff performed CPR as paramedics rushed in, while one colleague cried out in prayer so fervently, she was asked to step out – only to continue praying in the next room.

Rushed to hospital, Minayah was placed in an induced coma. Early brain scans showed alarming damage. And medics warned it could take 72 hours to understand the extent.

But her community had one focus – a “Lazarus moment”.

“She can hear you,” doctors said, urging loved ones to speak to her.

As prayers filled the room, staff noticed changes in her brain activity when certain voices spoke – a flicker of hope against a bleak diagnosis.

Within days, that hope exploded.

By Thursday, Minayah was awake – recognising faces, responding to worship music and even raising her hand in praise.

A follow-up scan showed “nothing acute” where darkness had been before.

By the weekend, she was walking, talking and eating.
