Gospel pair are a Winans combination

Gospel legends CeCe and BeBe Winans are marking over 40 years of ministry with a powerful reminder: the heart of gospel music lies in Christ.

Speaking to The Christian Post, CeCe, 60, said, “You never arrive. You just continue to learn about Jesus and allow him to mould you and shape you so that we can look like him.”

The Detroit-born siblings were slated to host the 40th annual Stellar Gospel Music Awards at Nashville’s Schermerhorn Symphony Centre. The return to Music City marks a significant milestone for the ceremony often dubbed “Gospel Music’s Greatest Night”.

“The Stellar Awards … gave us a chance,” said CeCe. “To be back and to be recognised by our peers is an honour.”

CeCe, who is nominated for eight awards including Artist and Song of the Year, added: “It’s an ongoing relationship with Christ that keeps you focused … then your music will follow.”

BeBe, 63, reflected: “You come into a maturity … and you just learn how to say ‘yes’ and follow.”

Their hope? That gospel music remains rooted in biblical truth while reaching beyond church walls. “Our music is an invitation to the world to come in,” said BeBe. “And an encouragement for those who are there to continue to believe.”
