Jean and Mark Armstrong with their new coffee brand.

New coffee is “honouring to God”

A Christian coffee roaster is launching a new brand – and it’s supporting two Elim projects.

Experienced chef Mark Armstrong and his wife Jean launched Shiloh Coffee Roasters in 2016.

Now they are launching a second brand, New Eden Coffee Roasters, to focus on supplying wholesale ethical coffee orders to churches and other organisations – and support good causes along the way.

“In recent months, we’ve felt led to launch an all-new brand that’s publicly honouring to God,” said Mark.

“New Eden is that brand, focused not only on producing great ethically sourced coffee but on publicly loving God and our neighbour.”

The couple, who have two children, last year relocated their roastery from Leeds to Mark’s childhood home of West Cumbria, and the family joined Elim’s Woodbank Community Church in Whitehaven.

New Eden will donate five per cent of its profits to local church mission, starting with Woodbank Community Church outreach projects.

A further five per cent will go to Elim Missions’ BeFree campaign.

Mark, 40, said: “It’s important to us that New Eden doesn’t just provide great coffee but also serves the community, both here where we roast and overseas where the coffee is grown. We want to be able to show people who God really is and help people see how down-to-earth Jesus is. He’s someone who’s in our everyday life, not just someone who’s in our Sundays.”
