Thousands listen to Franklin Graham in Birmingham.

"Jesus is alive," Franklin tells thousands

Thousands travelled to hear evangelist Franklin Graham preach in Birmingham, 40 years after his father shared the gospel in the city.

More than 8,000 were in the Birmingham Resorts World Arena to hear the US preacher proclaim: “Jesus Christ is not dead. He’s alive and he’s here tonight.” Billy Graham, his father, preached at nearby Villa Park in 1984, alongside a 1,400-strong choir.

Franklin’s 2024 event was part of his ‘God Loves You’ tour which also took in Glasgow.

The events were supported in prayer by 500 churches around the UK.

The event message came from Luke 19 about the salvation of Zacchaeus, a wealthy tax collector who put his faith in Christ and vowed to pay back anyone he had stolen from.

Franklin Graham will return to the UK next year to preach at ExCeL in London on June 21.
