Taiwo's trademark Bible-verse shirt

Footballer Taiwo Awoniyi used scoring a goal to give God the glory – revealing a Christian T-shirt message in what’s becoming a trademark celebration.

The Premier League striker scored the first goal for Nottingham Forest in their 2-0 win over West Ham.

Amid jubilant scenes at Forest’s City Ground, the Nigerian frontman took off his shirt to reveal: “In all darkness of time you became the light. Yeshua Glory is lifted highest.”

There was also a reference to Ecclesiastes 12:13, which the NIV Bible translates as, “Now all has been heard; here is the conclusion of the matter: Fear God and keep his commandments, for this is the duty of all mankind.”

Previously, while on loan at Mouscron, his after-goal T-shirt showing the same verse prompted a Belgian Football Association warning.

A goal for Nigeria earlier this season led to Awoniyi removing his special ‘Cross’ shinpads for the cameras.

The 26-year-old broke Forest legend Stan Collymore’s six-game scoring sequence for the club this season. The £17 million signing netted at Old Trafford against Manchester United to beat Collymore’s record, and gives God the glory for all his success.
