Striker Dom takes baptism plunge
Premier League striker Dominic Solanke has publicly declared his Christian faith after being baptised in a Bournemouth church in July.
The 27-year-old Tottenham Hotspur forward was surrounded by family, friends and fellow believers as he took the plunge in a baptistry pool, marking a new chapter in his life.
Sharing the moment on social media, Solanke posted a video of the baptism alongside the caption: “Old has gone, new is here. Jesus is King.”
Speaking after the event, Solanke said: “It was a decision I’d been thinking about for a while. I’ve been growing in my faith, and this just felt like the right time. God’s been working in my life.”
The baptism took place at Hope Church in Bournemouth, where Solanke has reportedly been attending services over the past year. Church leaders and friends could be seen cheering and clapping as the former Chelsea and Liverpool man emerged from the water, smiling and visibly emotional.
Solanke’s former Bournemouth teammate and close friend Jaidon Anthony, 25, was among those present. “It’s amazing to see Dom make this step,” he said. “His faith has grown so much – I’m proud of him.”
