Rev-ved up for journey of faith

A motorcycling vicar with 165,000 miles to his name started his Christian journey with a walk of a few yards and a message of freedom.

Nigel Rostock, now a member of the God’s Squad Christian Motorcycle Club, was anti-Christian until his girlfriend suggested going to a Billy Graham crusade in Sheffield.

He only agreed amid the thought the pub would be open after the meeting.

But something changed in his heart as the veteran US preacher delivered his message, prompting that short walk to the stage that turned into huge steps of faith.

Nigel recalls: “Billy Graham explained the answer to the impending judgement we all faced was Jesus, who paid the penalty for our sins by dying for us.

“We had to repent, accept and follow Jesus. This wasn’t a type of servitude, it wasn’t oppressive, but something that brought freedom.”

People were invited to walk to the stage to accept the forgiveness Jesus offered.

“I looked at Alison. She was already standing. We walked down together and gave our lives to Jesus. As a biker, you could say I knew we were finally on the right road.”

He now ministers at St Peter’s Church in Braunstone, Leicester, where he was married to Alison in 1985.

He’s also the European president of God’s Squad Christian Motorcycle Club. Riding his Harley-Davidson across the US, Australia and the likes of war-torn Ukraine has allowed him to share Jesus with people who’d never step inside a church.
