Podcast founders reveal personal struggles

The founders of a podcast for “everyone who struggles with imperfections but wants to serve a perfect God” have revealed the personal struggles that led to the popular channel.

Angela Halili and Arielle Reitsma are behind Girls Gone Bible, which has more than 400,000 subscribers.

But Angela, an Albanian-born actress, has been candid about her struggles with alcohol.

“I have a panic attack one time, chronic panic attacks, and after that it goes on for years. I did the only thing I knew how to do, and I started to self-medicate with alcohol.”

She met a pastor who began to instruct her in the Word of God and pray for her. By 2019, it was taking effect, and she has been sober ever since.

She explained: “Jesus took (away) the desire to drink. He went into my brain and rewired it.”

Arielle struggled with anxiety until God stepped in.

“He brought the community (Christian brethren) into my life that taught me how bold I was and smart and funny and good,” she said, “and now I walk with confidence.”
