Scott Morrison called for wisdom in mixing faith and politics.

"Miracle" winner 'ScoMo' on faith and politics

Former Australian Prime Minister Scott Morrison has urged Christians to use wisdom in mixing faith and politics.

As the UK settles after last month’s election, the man who was Australia’s PM from 2018 to 2022 has warned of the need for caution in government.

Morrison led the Liberal party to power in 2019 in a so-called “miracle win” which defied all predictions. ‘ScoMo’ went on to say he had “always believed in miracles” in the aftermath of the shock win.

Now, after the release of his autobiography, Morrison has stressed the importance of separating the Bible and the ballot box.

The former PM, now aged 56, told Vision Christian Media: “As Christians, we need to understand the fact that we live in a democracy and that gives us no greater right to impose a minority – and we are a minority now – perspective on the entire culture.”

Morrison added: “I hope Christians are full of hope and optimism. It does trouble me a bit when I see some Christians get terribly pessimistic and very worked up.

“I don’t think God called us to shout at people in capital letters on Facebook. I don’t think that’s part of the plan. We’ve got to be very careful about how we engage in these things.”
