Masey's Spirit-led Hollywood mission
Actress Masey McLain is proving you don’t need to leave your faith at the studio door.
In fact, she’s bringing the Holy Spirit right onto set.
The 32-year-old, who plays Beth O’Leary in new Sony Pictures biopic Soul on Fire, told CBN News at the film’s St Louis premiere that Christians can transform Hollywood from within.
“God’s kingdom is absolutely everywhere,” declared McLain, daughter of Baptist minister Marty McLain from Villa Rica, Georgia.
“We house the Holy Spirit – bring that in a set, bring that to a film, bring that to a story.”
It’s a conviction forged in childhood. McLain gave her life to Christ aged just seven at a revival service.
“I felt the Lord, the Holy Spirit tugging on my heart,” she recalled.
“I knew I wanted to be different.”
That difference has defined her acting career.
She shot to prominence in 2016’s I’m Not Ashamed, portraying Rachel Scott, the first student killed in the 1999 Columbine High School massacre.
Playing the devout teenager who refused to deny her faith even at gunpoint left an indelible mark.
“When you partner with the Holy Spirit, that is what has the power to transform lives – not people,” McLain explained.
Soul on Fire tells John O’Leary’s miraculous recovery from burns that covered 100 per cent of his body sustained when he was just nine.
